December 2006 heralded the birth of Utopia Designs Nigeria, a company built on innovation and professionalism.  The company was founded by the late Dr Ubu Ana (PhD, Bsc Materials engineering), Dr Onebieni Ana (Bsc Medical Genetics, MBBS) and Mrs Tolulope Ana (Bsc Economics, ACA). The vision was conceived during a vacation within Obudu mountain resort in Cross River State Nigeria. The aim of the company is simple, to produce unique T shirts and other apparel for the masses and through the power of slogans, enable these individuals to be proud of their heritage and identity. This vision goes far beyond Nigeria to other African countries and across the globe.

WHY UDNG (Utopia Designs NiGeria)?

The first half of the company’s name ‘UTO’pia is based on the first initial of the name of each original founder, U for Ubu, T for Tolu and O for Onebieni. Utopia is Greek for perfection or paradise, both of these ideals should always be synonymous with UDNG products. 

The company is unique in providing good quality products and an exceptional service by professionals, providing customers with a name they can trust. The architects of the company have been decorated with academic accolades all reaching prestigious positions in academia before the age of 30. Using their experience in their respected fields, they have produced a robust company which is driven by the slogan ‘Prosperity through grace and diligence®’. This phrase embodies all that is Utopia Designs Nigeria.

Filled with energy, compassion and drive the late Dr Ubu Ana was an amazing person. Together with Dr Onebieni Ana and Mrs Tolu Ana she helped start UDNG in December 2006.

This individual was always a high flyer, gaining a bachelors degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Loughborough before obtaining a PhD in the same subject and institution at 27 years old.

With skills that ranged from fluency in French to experience with such organisations as the Royal Navy, she used these skills to help develop UDNG. Dr Ubu Ana always stated that everything she achieved was a gift from the Almighty God, and for this reason we know that she would have approved of UDNG always giving a third of its profit to approved charities.

Dr. Ana’s memory will always be remembered, and for this reason her passing initiated the birth of the slogan.

Mrs Tolulope Ana is a dedicated and ambitious woman who strives for excellence in everything that she sets her mind to. After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics at the University of Leicester in 2004 she went on to qualify as a chartered accountant three years later.

Mrs Tolulope Ana, is now working for a well established  firm of accountants in Oxfordshire. Due to this background, Mrs Tolulope Ana is able to invest her vast business knowledge into the growth and development of UDNG.

She is totally committed to the UDNG vision, and is dedicated to ensuring that customers are 100% satisfied with UDNG’s product.

Ambitious, relaxed and a true professional, Onebieni Ana, plays hard and works hard. After finishing his degree in Medical Genetics at the University of Leicester in 2003, Onebieni went onto St George’s Medical school in London where he graduated in June 2008, to become Dr Onebieni Ana at 26 years old.

He is a well rounded character who brings his professional and creative skills into the running of UDNG. He strives along with Tolu and the initial vision of Ubu to ensure that Utopia will eventually become the foremost niche T-shirt company in the world.
